Irish Made Christmas Cards
Christmas cards were the very first products I made when I started my business in late 2021. I printed them myself at the kitchen table and I hadn't a clue what I was doing but the orders were coming in and I was so excited I didn't care how much time it took to put them together.
Fast forward a couple of years and I needed to outsource something. I was experimenting with more art and wanted to expand that side of things so I needed to be less hands on in the greeting card production. The important part for me was designing them and so I held on to that and outsourced the printing.

Sustainability Matters
I was vaguely aware of a company in the Midlands that did sustainable printing so I got in touch with them. From the very first interaction they were incredibly helpful and super communicators. It took a few samples and a lot of learning on my side of things in terms of prepping a design for printing, but within a short space I was ready to order.
TheFactory.ie print completely sustainably, and I highly recommend them to work with. My cards are now printed on 100% recycled card, using green energy, and eco inks. Their printing process is carbon balanced and the quality of the printing is really excellent.
Every Little Helps
I know I'm not a big fish in terms of Christmas card sales in Ireland, but what matters to me is that I'm making a sustainable product that functions in a beautiful way, and maintains the integrity of my designs. Christmas cards are either a throw-away item, or a keepsake, so producing them in this way means they can be both, but in a sustainable, kinder to the environment way.

Choose Sustainable, and Choose Irish
This year, we are becoming more and more aware of where our products are coming from. Who's making them, what materials are being used, and are they kind to the environment or damaging them? If you want to start making changes this year in making your Christmas a little more sustainable, start with Christmas cards. They still matter, they're hugely sentimental, and they don't break the bank.
