Community Over Competition

Community Over Competition

Community Over Competition

A little competition goes a long way, but it’s what you do with it, and how you approach it that matters. Community over competition is a mindset and an approach, not just to your craft but to your people. It’s a healthy way to look at your peer group that will open doors instead of gate-keep them, foster friendships instead of repel them, and bring new opportunities for everyone.

Stronger Together

Believe it or not, even in crowded markets there is space for all of us. Even if two artists both paint leaves, or two illustrators sell prints online, as long as each creator is being authentic and creating work that is true to themselves, they will remain unique. Our experiences, perspectives, and personal touches give every piece worth and value.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison, especially online. But when you approach other artists with respect, comradery and admiration instead of envy, or threat, a whole other world opens up to you. Collaboration, inspiration and opportunity are all benefits of sharing the stage, not hogging it!

Cheering Each Other On

When we focus on encouragement and celebration rather than rivalry, we build a stronger, more vibrant community, one where we all have room to grow and nobody is afraid to share for fear of being copied. Celebrating someone else's success doesn't take away from your own. If anything, it adds fuel to your own creative fire.

I’ve been lucky enough to connect with some amazing Irish makers, artists, and small business owners, and what’s most powerful is the way we cheer each other on - sharing posts, recommending each other, celebrating each other's wins, and even collaborating for events and products.
Those collaborative and supportive actions create ripples that grow bigger over time, not just for individuals, but for the whole community.

Community Breeds Confidence

When you're part of a positive and encouraging community, you feel less alone, and new ideas or challenges feel less daunting. The encouragement from others - especially from people who understand the ups and downs of running a small business - can make all the difference on tough days.
Community reminds us why we started. It keeps us motivated to show up, create, and share.

If you’re a creative, or someone in need of community, know that your voice is valuable - and there’s a whole world of people ready to support and celebrate you. Get in touch and let’s grow together!
